Process

Planning a wedding is no small feat, and it's my job to make it as easy as possible for you! I will walk you through every step of the ceremony and legal side of your wedding. An overview of the process is laid out below so you can get a feel of what to expect.

First things first

Consultation

Get in touch so we can set up an initial chat. We can discuss what you are thinking so far, and work out if I am right for you. These meetings are always free and no-obligation, so please feel free to reach out.
Once you're ready

Booking Confirmation

Once you are ready, I will confirm your ceremony date and we are ready to get started! At this time, like many celebrants, I will ask for a booking fee of $200 to be paid, which counts towards your total fee.
1 month – 18 months before

Notice of Intended Marriage

Notice of Intended MarriageHappily Ever Before and After Brochure
The Notice of Intended Marriage is the first official document we will sign. I will guide you through the form, confirm your identities, go through some important information, and witness your signatures.

This notice must be completed at least one month before your wedding.
2 weeks before

Finalise the Ceremony

Around two weeks before your wedding, I aim to lock in the structure and wording for your ceremony. Of course, the sooner we can get everything sorted, the better, but this depends on how your planning goes and I will always be flexible with you.
Week of ceremony

Rehearsal

For most ceremonies (except simpler ones, such as registry-style weddings), I strongly recommend a rehearsal. Typically, we do this the same week of the wedding and walk through the ceremony, on-site if possible.
Before the wedding

Declaration of No Legal Impediment

The next piece of official paperwork is the declaration of no legal impediment to marriage. This form is actually quite simple, and you will just need to sign confirming you are legally allowed to be married. We typically sign this at the rehearsal, or on the morning of the ceremony.
On the day

Ceremony

The part we have all been waiting for! Every ceremony is different, but there are a few parts your ceremony must have:
  • Two witnesses who you choose to sign the certificates
  • Legal wording from me, and legal vows from you
  • Signing of two official certificates of marriage
  • Signing of the "Form 15", a certificate you keep
After the ceremony

Registration

After the wedding, usually the same day, I submit your marriage paperwork to the Births, Deaths and Marriages office. At this time, I am able to request an official certificate of marriage be posted to you. This is the fastest way to get your official certificate, so if you require this urgently for any reason, be sure to let me know.
